About Kathryn Mellett
Bio

Kathryn Mellett attended the Pennsylvania State University and earned a BA in Film-Video and a BA in Women and Gender Studies. She currently resides in Pittsburgh, PA.

Job Experience
Kathryn currently works at PNC as a guest services administrator and executive team member. As a member of the CONNECT team, she answers phones for over ten departments at PNC.
When she is not at PNC, she runs her own small business, EcoLoops, where she creates and sells eco-conscious crochet products and handmade gifts. She also teaches color guard and dance for the Mt. Lebanon High School Marching Band.
She worked with the Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps (www.cavaliers.org) as a member of the media team during their 2017 summer tour. For three months, she traveled a total of 10,000 miles across the United States creating over 20 videos while on the road. As a videographer and editor for the organization, she gained experience in all production phases and had hands-on participation in creating a cohesive video, photo, and social media presence for the organization.

Kathryn has held several internships while attending Penn State University. Beginning in 2016, she was a videographer and editor for the Penn State Marching Blue Band. She worked part-time with Penn State Athletics starting in early 2017 as an assistant director, replay producer/operator, and many more production roles for a wide range of athletic events.

Before attending college, Kathryn gained experience through an apprenticeship with the Pittsburgh Filmmakers. There she learned how to shoot, develop, and edit black and white film on a Super 8 Camera. She also gained video production experience and ran a YouTube channel for her community’s magazine, Mt. Lebanon Magazine, in addition to her published photography in the magazine.

Television and Film

Kathryn has worked on several experimental and narrative films while attending Penn State. Most notably, she traveled to Poland to produce and edit a documentary film, "For Gertrude" about her family history and grieving her late grandmother.
Kathryn's film, "Identity" was an official selection at the Malmo International LGBTQ+ Short Film Festival 2019.

Kathryn has experience as a production assistant on the television show, "Treehouse Masters" as well as on film sets including 2nd assistant director, script supervisor, and digital imaging technician on Pearl Gluck's short film, "Write Me."
She was also the editor of the short narrative film, “The Revengers” about a team of women vigilantes armed with a Twitter account and red lipstick.
Kathryn's film experience has expanded her interest in creatively editing films as well as led her to experimental film style where she explores video special effects and the art of audio mixing.
